Team Penske Drivers Qualify Solidly At Milwaukee Mile

May 31, 2008

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (May 31, 2008) –  Team Penske cars and drivers are solidly in the front half of the field for the start of Sunday’s ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 at The Milwaukee Mile.

Helio Castroneves, who won the pole the previous two years at Milwaukee, will start fifth in the 26-car field Sunday after recording a four-lap average of 166.667 mph Saturday in the No. 3 Team Penske Honda/Dallara.  “Our first lap during qualifying was really quick, but after that I really had to fight the car,” Castroneves said. “We’re disappointed that we weren’t able to make it three poles in a row here, but we now know where to go with our setup for tomorrow. I’m really happy with the work that the Team Penske crew has put in today and I think we’re going to be in great shape for the race tomorrow.”

Teammate Ryan Briscoe will start 11th after his No. 6 Team Penske Honda/Dallara was clocked at an average of 164.106 mph. "It was a bit of a tough day at the office," Briscoe said. "We didn't quite find the right rhythm during morning practice so it made it difficult to set up the car for qualifying. The good news is that now we have a better sense of what we need to do to improve the car for the race. Hopefully tomorrow the Team Penske car will be competitive and we'll be able to earn a solid result."

The ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt 225 will be telecast live in High Definition at 4 p.m. (EDT) by ABC. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network. A Spanish-language telecast of the race will be carried by ESPNDeportes. The IMS Radio Network broadcast also is carried on XM Satellite Radio and www.indycar.com.
