Briscoe To Attend Packers Game Sunday Thanks To Verizon
December 23, 2010
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 23, 2010) - Thanks to a special birthday gift from one of Team Penske's key sponsors, IZOD IndyCar Series driver Ryan Briscoe will enjoy a special holiday experience this weekend.
Briscoe, the native of Sydney, Australia who will drive the No. 6 IZOD Team Penske car in the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series, will get a chance to experience an American football fan's dream on Sunday, December 26. Briscoe will attend the Green Bay Packers home game against the New York Giants at frigid Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Team Penske sponsor, Verizon, arranged for the tickets and VIP experience for Briscoe and his wife, Nicole (host of ESPN's NASCAR Now) back in September. Nicole and her family are lifelong Packers fans, as they hail from nearby Roscoe, Illinois, and they turned Briscoe into a "cheesehead" a few years ago.
When they learned of Briscoe's fondness for the Packers and his desire to attend a game in December and witness the "frozen tundra" of the legendary Lambeau Field up close, executives at Verizon - also a sponsor of the National Football League - knew they had a perfect birthday present for the winning fourth-year Team Penske driver, who turned 29 on September 24th. Verizon Wireless is the exclusive provider for Lambeau Field and the Green Bay Packers, who graciously arranged all the details for the Briscoe's experience.
"I have to thank Verizon for all they do for Team Penske and for this awesome birthday gift," said Briscoe. "I'm really excited to watch the Packers on Sunday and get a chance to live the game-day experience at Lambeau Field. I know it's going to be really cold, but it's going to be one of those experiences that I'll always remember. We'll root for the Pack and eat a few brats to keep warm."
Briscoe will also get a chance to participate in a Packer tradition. He will lead the stadium crowd in a rendition of "Roll Out the Barrel" as a celebrity guest of the team during Sunday's game.
