Recap: At the end of Round 2 in Saturday's qualifying session at Watkins Glen International, Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Chevrolet team were on the outside looking in at the Firestone Fast Six to race for the Verizon P1 Pole Award, but a blocking penalty was called on Mikhail Aleshin which pushed Power up a spot and the opportunity to vie for his third pole win of the season. The 2014 series champion finished the final round just .0483 seconds behind pole winner Scott Dixon and will start Sunday's IndyCar Grand Prix at the Glen from the outside pole position. Helio Castroneves and his No. 3 Hitachi Chevy also advanced to the final round and will start the race from the fourth position on the outside of Row 2. Series points leader Simon Pagenaud just missed out on making the final round and will start seventh behind the wheel of his No. 22 Hewlett Packard Enterprise Chevy followed by Juan Pablo Montoya in the No. 2 PPG Automotive Refinish Chevrolet in the eighth spot. Pagenaud carries a 28-point advantage in the standings over Power into the race with just two races remaining on the schedule. Castroneves is also mathematically alive for the title at 114 markers off the pace.
