- · This is Simon Pagenaud's sixth Verizon P1 Pole Award of the season and first on the 2.258-mile road course at Mid-Ohio. He won poles earlier this season at Barber Motorsports Park, the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, both ends of the Raceway at Belle Isle doubleheader and Iowa.
- · Established a Mid-Ohio track record with a time of 1 minute, 3.8700 seconds for an average speed of 127.271 mph.
- · Seventh pole of his Team Penske career having won his first a season ago at Fontana.
- · Eighth pole of his Verizon IndyCar Series career.
- · Team Penske has won 10 of 12 pole awards this season and 20 of the last 25 dating back to last season.
- · It is the 501st overall pole win for Team Penske in its 50th year of competition.
- · This is the 244th Verizon IndyCar Series pole win for Team Penske.
- · Pagenaud leads Team Penske teammate Will Power by 47 points in the championship standings heading into the weekend and will be seeking his fourth win of the campaign.
