Notes:
- Team Penske returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course with four drivers – the first time this season that the team has run that many cars, with all four cars qualifying in the top-10.
- Helio Castroneves and the No. 3 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet were especially impressive coming in 10th, as this is the first Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying session he has competed in during the 2018 season.
- Josef Newgarden and the No. 1 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet qualified 6th for tomorrow’s race. He won the most recent Verizon IndyCar Series event at Barber Motorsports Park just a few weeks ago.
- Former INDYCAR Grand Prix at Indianapolis winner (2014 and 2016) Simon Pagenaud and the No. 22 Menards Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet qualified 7th, just missing the Fast Six.
- Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet consistently outpaced the field by running the fastest laps in both practice sessions and qualifying.
- This marks Will Power’s 51st Verizon IndyCar Series career pole.
- Power moves to third on the all-time INDYCAR pole list.
