Notes:
- It was a great day for Team Penske as Will Power and the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet team captured the pole for the Verizon IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway. This award marked his 52nd career pole – making him third on the all-time list behind A.J. Foyt (53 career poles) and Mario Andretti (67 career poles).
- Josef Newgarden and the No. 1 Hitachi Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet just missed the pole - qualifying second - but ran fastest in both practice sessions.
- Simon Pagenaud and the No. 22 Menards Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet ran consistently in the top-10 between both practice sessions and qualifying. However, they had an internal engine issue in final practice which caused them to exit the session early.
- They will start fourth tomorrow. Sunday's race will be the final of six races Team Penske is competing in through five series (Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, Verizon IndyCar Series, Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and IMSA) this weekend. This is the only weekend all year in which that will occur.
