Hornish Jr. Qualifies 28th for Nationwide Race at Richmond

May 2, 2008

RICHMOND, Va. (May 2, 2008) – Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 Penske Truck Rental Dodge Charger in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, qualified 28th for tonight’s Lipton TEA 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

Hornish Jr. was involved in an early practice accident, and thanks to the hard work of the Penske Truck Rental team, he posted a fast lap of 22.296 seconds at a speed of 121.098 miles per hour during qualifying. The effort was strong enough to place him in the 28th starting position.

“The accident this morning was very disappointing,” said Hornish Jr. “The Penske Truck Rental team did an excellent job getting the backup car ready and we were able to get back on track and finish practice. We are going to have to work our way up through the field, but I believe we will have a strong car tonight.”

The Lipton TEA 250 will air live on SPEED and ESPN Classic tonight beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The race will also be streamed live on NASCAR.com and ESPN.com. ESPN2 will join the live telecast immediately following the NBA Playoffs and will re-air the race in its entirety following the broadcast conclusion.

The race will also be broadcast live on MRN at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
