No. 12 Penske Racing Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger News and Notes
• This Week’s Charger… The No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge team will race chassis PRS-017 during Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event in Loudon, New Hampshire. PRS-017 last saw action in May at Richmond International Raceway. Driver Justin Allgaier was caught up in a wreck on lap 3, which caused damage to the No.12 machine and resulted in a 38th-place finish.
• Rookie Race… With another solid top-20 finish last Saturday night at The Milwaukee Mile, Allgaier is still battling for series Rookie-Of-The-Year honors. The 23-year-old Riverton Ill. native is currently five points behind rookie leader, Brendan Gaughan, after 15 of 34 events.
• Rookie Stripe… This will be Allgaier’s first Nationwide Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The rookie driver has made 11 starts this season at tracks where he has never turned a lap and has produced three top-five and five top-10 finishes at those venues.
• Ivy Leaguer… Crew chief Chad Walter spent his college years at Cornell University, located in Ithaca, N.Y. The Verizon Wireless Dodge pit boss played defensive end on the football team in addition to earning a degree in mechanical engineering. In his spare time, Walter worked on the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers race car design team at Cornell.
• Come See Me... Allgaier will be signing autographs at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer on Saturday, June 27 at 11:30 a.m. The souvenir trailer is located behind the front stretch grandstands at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
• Watch and Listen… The Camping World RV Sales 200 can be seen live on Saturday, June 27 on ABC-TV with coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.

“I’m really looking forward to going to another race track where I have never run. We have had a lot of success at places that I have never seen and I am hoping to continue on that wave this weekend. I have watched tapes of the last couple of races and it looks like an awesome place to race. There are multiple grooves which make for very intense racing. In talking to other teams, the Loudon area is very nice, as is the race track. A lot of the drivers really seem to like the track because it is racey. As the tires fall off drivers can take advantage of a good-handling race car to position themselves at the front of the field. However, good pit stops and a good qualifying effort are keys to success. As a team, we are really starting to come together and hitting our stride before the second half of the season begins. Now that we have good notes and track experience, I think we will continue to improve our performance and our championship points position.”
Crew Chief Chad Walter on racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
“I love going up to New Hampshire. It is a great area with great people. I always say the best racers are from the South and the best race fans are from the North. The track is great. There are multiple lines at both ends of the speedway which give the drivers options if the car is not working on the bottom of the track. The car has to be tight in the middle of the corners so Justin [Allgaier] can get back to the gas early and really accelerate off the corners. Being able to get back to the gas early is paramount. It is a long race so we need to take care of our equipment all day and be there at the finish. We are taking a great short track car and I am confident we will have a solid day.”
