Allgaier Will Line Up 39th Sunday In Montreal

August 29, 2009

MONTREAL, Canada. (August 29, 2009) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start tomorrow’s 74-lap event at the 2.70-mile Circuit Gilles Villeneuve road course in Montreal from the 39th spot.

The team went out in the third group to make their qualifying attempt on Saturday afternoon.  The 23-year old Ill. native ran a fast time of 131.856 seconds which was good enough to put him on the inside of the 20th row for start of tomorrow’s NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge.  This is the rookie’s second road course start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.  The first came four weeks ago at Watkins Glen International where the Rookie-Of-The-Year leader scored a top-15 finish.

“The rain hurt us today,” commented Allgaier after his qualifying effort.  “I have never experienced running a stock car in the rain, but now I can mark it off my list.  I feel like we have a really good car for tomorrow.  [Crew chief] Chad Walter did a great job preparing the car and we feel like the Verizon Wireless Dodge will be on the move all day.  We just have to keep it on the track all day and I am confident we will have a strong run.”

The NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge can be seen live Sunday afternoon on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
