September 28, 2009

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 28, 2009) - Penske Racing development driver Parker Kligerman will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut this weekend, competing in the No. 22 Penske Truck Rental Dodge in the Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway.

Kligerman will also race for the team in the Nationwide Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday, November 21.

After joining Penske Racing as a development driver in 2008, Kligerman has established himself as a rising stock car talent. Kligerman leads the ARCA Series with seven wins in 2009 and he's currently ranked second in the championship standings with two races remaining. At Kansas, Kligerman will do double duty as he will compete in the ARCA Series race on Thursday before making his first Nationwide Series start on Saturday.

"I am very excited to get my first opportunity to race at the NASCAR level with the Penske Racing Nationwide Series team," said Kligerman. "It's definitely going to be a challenge, but I know the team will give me a great car. Penske Racing has a lot of experience and this will definitely help us as we prepare to go to the next level."

"When Penske Racing brought Parker on board last season, we felt he had a bright future in NASCAR and he's continued to improve and mature as a driver," said Penske Racing President Tim Cindric. "He's done a great job this year as he has shown that he can run at the front any type of track while being consistent enough to challenge for the ARCA Series championship. Parker has earned the opportunity to show what he can do at the next level and we're looking forward to competing with him in the Nationwide Series this season and it should prepare him to take advantage of further opportunities in 2010."

Kligerman will be Justin Allgaier's teammate at Kansas and Miami in the Penske Racing Nationwide Series stable. Allgaier has had a stellar rookie season for the team, producing 11 top-10 and three top-five results while running among the top-five in the series championship standings.
