Justin Allgaier Will Start 18th at Kansas Speedway

October 3, 2009

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (October 3, 2009) – Justin Allgaier driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will line up in the 18th starting position for today’s Kansas Lottery 300 at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway.

In Saturday’s qualifying session, the 23-year old ran a fast time of 31.692 seconds with a speed of 170.390 miles-per-hour.  The time was good enough to put him on the outside of the ninth row for the start of today’s 300-mile race.   Allgaier has four starts at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway with a best finish of sixth which came in 2008.

“The Verizon Wireless Dodge was tight at both ends of the speedway,” commented Justin Allgaier after his early morning qualifying effort.  “The track conditions were very different this morning from where we practiced yesterday which affected the balance of the car.  We spent a lot of time yesterday working on long race runs and were really consistent and fast. I know we have a really strong race car and I am looking forward to this afternoon’s race.”

The Kansas Lottery 300 can be seen later today live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
