October 24, 2009

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (October 24, 2009) - Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start this afternoon's 250-mile event at the Memphis Motorsports Park from the first spot.

The team went out 27th to make their qualifying attempt on Saturday morning. The 23-year old Illinois native ran a time of 22.862 seconds with a speed of 118.100 miles per hour which was good enough to put him on the inside of the first row for the start of this afternoon's Kroger On Track for the Cure 250. This will be the Rookie-Of-The-Year contender's first career start at the .75-mile tri-oval speedway, and his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series pole position.

"I couldn't be more excited to be on the pole today," said Justin Allgaier. "[Achieving] a pole position was one of our goals for 2009, and I'm happy to have accomplished that. Now we can set our sights on a win, and I think we have a great shot at that today. I just want to say thanks to the entire Verizon Wireless team, this [pole position] is thanks to their hard work all year."

The Kroger On Track for the Cure 250 can be seen on Saturday, October 24 live on ESPN2 with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
