Allgaier Will Line up 20th at Homestead-Miami Speedway
November 21, 2009
Homestead, Fla. (November 21, 2009) - Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger for Penske Racing, will start today's 200-lap season finale event at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway from the 20th spot.
The No. 12 team went out 18th to make its qualifying attempt on Saturday morning. Allgaier, pilot of the Verizon Wireless Dodge, ran a time of 32.666 seconds which was good enough to line him up on the outside of the 10th row for the start of today's 300-mile event. This is Allgaier's second NASCAR Nationwide Series start at the South Florida speedway.
"The Verizon Wireless Dodge was just a bit too tight this morning" said the 23-year-old driver after his two lap qualifying effort. "We made a lot of changes to the car after the "happy hour" practice session last night and I think we made some gains. Qualifying in the morning is tough because NASCAR puts us in such a small box with the adjustments we can make and we need the car handle for a full fuel run. The track was hot and slick this morning, but once the sun goes down it will gain grip. We know what we have to accomplish, as a team, to achieve our season long goals, and I confident the Verizon Wireless Dodge team is up to the challenge."
The Ford 300 will be aired later today on ESPN 2 with coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 128.
