Rain Cancels NNS Qualifying

February 12, 2010

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 12, 2010) – Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Dodge, will take the green flag for Saturday’s DRIVE4COPD 300 from the 12th position after persistent rain showers forced the cancelation of Friday’s qualifying session.  His Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski will start 24th.

With the cancellation of qualifying, the field was set by 2010 owner points per the NASCAR rule book.

After finishing the 2009 season 12th in the final owner standings, the No. 12 team will line up on the outside of the sixth row for tomorrow’s 120-lap event.

“I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t get a chance to qualify,” said Allgaier.  “I think the Verizon Dodge could have posted a lap a little better than where we’re starting, but we’ll certainly take it and get ready for tomorrow.  Fortunately, my crew chief Chad Walter and I agreed to focus on race runs in yesterday’s practice session, so I feel like we’re going to be in good shape.”

Live coverage of the DRIVE4COPD 300 begins Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, live on ESPN2.  The event will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
