Kligerman Finishes 22nd at Auto Club Speedway

February 20, 2010

FONTANA, Calif. (February 20, 2010) - Penske Racing development driver Parker Kligerman finished 22nd in his third career NASCAR Nationwide Series start in the Stater Bros. 300 at Auto Club Speedway after starting the race in the 29th position.

Early in the race, the No. 42 Dodge was tight in the middle of the turns and loose off the corners. Following the first round of pit stops, which included air pressure and other adjustments to the car, Kligerman was running in the 28th position.

The crew, under direction of crew chief Chris Carrier, worked on the No. 42 Dodge over the course of the day making small improvements. During the waning laps of the race, Kligerman had a car he felt was capable of running in the top 15. The Team 42 pit crew did excellent work in the pits over the course of the event.

"We put ourselves behind during qualifying and had to start toward the back of the field," said Kligerman. "Everyone worked hard to give me a strong car and I think that we had a top-15 car by the end of the race. We just had that one restart where we stayed out and weren't exactly sure where we should line up. We should've been the first car a lap down and would've hopefully gotten back on the lead lap when the caution came out. Overall, today was a great learning experience for me and the entire team."

Penske Racing Teammates Brad Keselowski and Justin Allgaier finished third and ninth, respectively.

Next weekend, the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Sam's Town 300. Live coverage of the event begins Saturday, February 27 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
