HORNISH QUALIFIES 12th FOR VIRGINIA 529 COLLEGE 250

April 28, 2012

Richmond, VA (April 27, 2012) - Sam Hornish, Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 WURTH Dodge Challenger, qualified 12th for Friday evening’s Virginia 529 College 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

Hornish turned a lap of 22.041 seconds around the D-shaped three-quarter mile track at an average speed of 122.499 miles per hour. Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski qualified ninth in the No. 22 SKF Dodge.

“Our Wurth Dodge is little better than we qualified", said Hornish. “On these short-tracks it is crucial to get the first lap just right to set the car up for the second lap and I missed it a bit going into three and had to lift which cost us some time. We had a strong car in practice today and we feel pretty good going into the race tonight.”

The Virginia 529 College 250 coverage will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2 on Friday, April 27. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
