Hornish Qualifies 17th for the Subway Jalapeno 250

DAYTONA, Fla.  (July 6, 2012) - Sam Hornish, Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger in the NASCAR Nationwide Series qualified 17th for Friday evening’s Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

Hornish turned a lap of 51.231 seconds around the two point five mile superspeedway at an average speed of 175.675 miles per hour. Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski qualified seventh in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge.

“We didn’t have quite enough in qualifying today, but we should be in great shape for the race tonight,” said Hornish. “Our Wurth Dodge was good in practice yesterday and we are looking forward to a solid showing in the race. We just need to make good decisions in the pits on and on the track and then be there at the end and see what happens.”

Subway Jalapeno 250 television coverage will begin at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN on Friday, July 6. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 90.
