Hornish Qualifies 3rd at Chicagoland Speedway

July 22, 2012

JOILET, Ill (July 22, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger team qualified third for Sunday’s STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Hornish toured the one-and-half-mile oval in 30.618 seconds, or 176.367 miles per hour, in the Sunday morning time trial session. Penske Racing teammate, Parker Kligerman, qualified fifth in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger.

“Our Alliance Truck Parts Dodge was just a tic freer than I would have liked – I had to pedal it quite a bit to keep the rear under me. Having said that I am pretty happy,” said Hornish, “because our race car is better than our qualifying car. We just need to be smart out there today and we should be in great shape.”

The STP 300 will air live at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN on Sunday afternoon. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
