Hornish to Start Seventh at Iowa Speedway
August 4, 2012
NEWTON, Iowa (August 4, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger team qualified seventh for Saturday evenings U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.
Hornish lapped the 7/8ths mile track in 23.456 seconds, or 134.294 miles per hour, in the Saturday afternoon qualifying session. Penske Racing teammate, Ryan Blaney qualified 13th in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger.
“The Wurth Dodge felt really good compared to where we were at yesterday”, said Hornish. “We made a lot of changes overnight and made the car better for sure. I’m pretty excited to see how the car is in the race tonight because I feel good about it. We may have a bit more in the car than we showed during qualifying as we were one of the last cars to have sun shining on the track as the clouds came over after our run. We should be in good shape for the race.”
The U.S. Cellular 250 will air live at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 on Saturday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
