Hornish to Start Sixth at Atlanta Motor Speedway

September 1, 2012

HAMPTON, Ga. (September 1, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger team qualified sixth for Saturday’s NRA American Warrior 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Hornish lapped the 1.5 mile track in 31.606 seconds, or 175.410 miles per hour, in the Saturday afternoon time trial session. Penske Racing teammate, Brad Keselowski, qualified eighth in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger.

“The Alliance Truck Parts Dodge was just a little too free during our qualifying run,” said Hornish, “and I was not able to get back to the throttle fast enough to challenge for the pole, but we have 200 laps to find our way to the front tonight. We just have to be smart, make good decisions on track and in the pits and we have a good shot at a solid result.”

The NRA America Warrior 300 will air live at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 on Saturday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
