Hornish Qualifies Fourth at Richmond
September 7, 2012
RICHMOND, Va. (September 7, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger team qualified in the fourth position for Friday evening’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway.
Hornish lapped the three-quarter mile track in 22.127 seconds at 122.023 miles per hour, during Friday afternoon’s qualifying session. Penske Racing teammate, Ryan Blaney, qualified 27th in the No. 22 Snap-on Dodge Challenger.
“The Alliance Truck Parts Dodge was a little better than I expected going into Turn 1 on the first lap,” said Hornish, “and then I went into the second lap just a little too fast and it didn’t turn as well as I would’ve liked. We definitely left a little bit of speed out there but we are happy with our car because we made great changes between practice and qualifying. Tonight it will be business as usual – be smart and execute.”
The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 will air live at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN Friday evening. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
