September 15, 2012

JOLIET, Ill. (September 15, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 AVIS Dodge Challenger team qualified in the fourth position for Saturday’s Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola at Chicagoland Speedway.

Hornish lapped the 1.5 mile track in 30.510 seconds at 176.991 miles per hour, during the Saturday afternoon qualifying session; Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski qualified 16th in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger.

“The AVIS Dodge was really good in qualifying trim today,” said Hornish. “We may have been just a tick too tight, but we are very pleased with the effort especially since we didn’t work much on our qualifying set-up during practice. We also had to change an engine after the final practice, so all in all we are in great shape for today’s race.”

The Dollar General 300 presented by Coca-Cola will air live at 3 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN2. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
