Hornish Earns a 3rd-Place Starting Position at Kentucky
September 22, 2012
SPARTA, Ky. (September 22, 2012) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger team qualified in the third position for Saturday’s Kentucky 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
Hornish lapped the 1.5 mile track in 30.959 seconds at 174.424 miles per hour, during the Saturday afternoon qualifying session; Penske Racing teammate Ryan Blaney qualified 20th in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger.
“The Alliance Truck Parts Dodge was just a little bit too free in qualifying trim to get that last bit for the front-row, but we have a good race car,” said Hornish. “We will make a couple adjustments and we feel really good about the car we have going into the race this afternoon.”
The Kentucky 300 will air live at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday on ESPN. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
