THE RACE REVIEW

·Keselowski began the race from the ninth position based on his lap of 27.730 seconds during the Saturday morning qualifying session.

·At lap 39, while running in the seventh, Keselowski made accidental contact with the rear bumper of the No. 92 machine causing slight front-end damage.

·Following a lap 44 restart, Keselowski made a brilliant, three-wide move to capture second in the running order.

·He would assume the lead for the first time after electing to remain on the racing surface following a caution at lap 151.

·While he had enough fuel to make it to the checkered flag, Keselowski was unable to hold off the advances of Kyle Busch, but was able to bring home a second-place finish for his seventh top-five in his last nine Phoenix starts.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“It was a pleasant surprise that we were able to find a little bit of speed to get the Discount Tire Ford to where we could at least have a respectable day.  I thought we might even have a little bit more there if we would have caught the right breaks, but we did catch some good breaks to get a second, but we didn’t have anywhere near the speed that the 54 car did.  So it was a good day of execution in the race.”

“I knew I had a shot if something happened to Kyle, but you’ve got to put yourself in a position for good things to happen to you. Kyle’s car was so fast that I could have probably had four tires and he could have had none and it wouldn’t have mattered.”
