Hornish to Start Fifth Tonight at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 5, 2013) – Sam Hornish Jr. and the No. 12 PPG Ford Mustang team will start from the inside of Row 3 in the fifth position in tonight’s Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
Hornish lapped the 2.5 mile superspeedway in 50.468 seconds at an average speed of 178.331 miles per hour during the afternoon’s qualifying session. Penske Racing teammate, Joey Logano will start 14th in the Discount Tire Ford Mustang.
“That was about as good as a lap as I could ask for around this place,” said Hornish. “This team has been building fast Mustangs all year long, and our superspeedway cars are some of the most well prepared cars on the grid. We will do our best to make the right decisions to put this PPG Ford Mustang in victory lane tonight.”
The Subway Firecracker 250 will air live tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET ESPN. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
