Hornish to Start on Front Row at Indianapolis

July 27, 2013

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (July 27, 2013) – Sam Hornish Jr. and the No. 12 Wurth Ford Mustang team will start from the front row in the second position for this afternoon’s Indiana 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hornish lapped the historic 2.5 mile speedway in 50.288 seconds at an average speed of 178.969 miles per hour during the afternoon qualifying session. Penske Racing teammate, Joey Logano will start 13th in the Discount Tire Ford Mustang.

“That was a pretty solid lap around this place,” said Hornish. “We weren’t as fast as we would have liked to have been in practice yesterday, but my Penske Racing crew went to work making a lot of changes and today our Wurth Ford Mustang was fast. We would’ve liked to get that pole, but a front row start is not too bad. We will make the best of it and work hard to bring home a win.”

The Indiana 250 will air live today at 4:30 p.m. ET ESPN. Race coverage will also be broadcast on the IMS Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
