Hornish and Blaney Sweep Front Row at Kentucky

September 21, 2013

SPARTA, Ky. (September 21, 2013) – Sam Hornish, Jr. and the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Ford Mustang team qualified on pole for Saturday night’s Kentucky 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The effort marks a career high third pole of the season and his fourth pole in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition.

Hornish guided his Penske Ford around the 1.5 mile speedway in 30.128 seconds at 179.235 miles per hour during the Saturday afternoon qualifying session. Ryan Blaney will start second in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang.

“That was a great lap for our Alliance Truck Parts Ford,” said Hornish. “The guys at Penske Racing have been giving me fast race cars all year long. That was a pretty good lap though I did turn in a bit late going into Turn 1 and I had a moment. We are happy with this pole and the pit selection will be a big help. Now we have to go out there tonight and bring it home.”

The Kentucky 300 is scheduled to air live tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNEWS. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
