Penske Racing Sweeps Front Row at Dover

September 28, 2013

DOVER, Del. (September 28, 2013) – Joey Logano and the No. 22 Hertz Ford Mustang team qualified on the pole for today’s 5-Hour Energy 200 at Dover International Speedway. The effort marks Logano’s first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) pole of the 2013 season and his 23 career pole in NNS competition. Today’s pole also represents Penske Racing’s sixth pole of the season (Hornish – Chicago, Watkins Glen & Kentucky; Keselowski – Richmond; Allmendinger – Elkhart Lake and Logano – Dover).

Logano lapped the “Monster Mile” in 23.200 seconds at an average speed of 155.172 miles per hour during the afternoon qualifying session. Penske Racing teammate, Sam Hornish Jr. will start second in the No. 12 Snap-on Ford Mustang.

“This No. 22 Hertz Ford team has been giving me fast cars all year long,” said Logano. “We had good lap and we needed to get past Sam and the 12 car. This is pretty cool for Penske Racing to be starting 1-2 today, especially with both of these teams contending for the Owner’s and Driver’s championships. Hopefully we can finish out the day in the same order.”

The 5-Hour Energy 200 Benefitting Living Beyond Breast Cancer will air today at 3:30pm ET on ESPN. Race coverage will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
