Driver:  Alex Tagliani

THE NEWS AND NOTES

· FIRST OF TWO: Road America will be Alex Tagliani’s first of two scheduled appearances in the seat of the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang in 2014.  After a merry-go-round of drivers, including Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, Tagliani will also make an appearance behind the wheel of the No. 22 Mustang at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August.  However, this is not Tagliani’s first time racing with Team Penske.  In 2011, Tagliani started the No. 12 entry for Team Penske in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Montreal, where he qualified and finished second.

· NO STRANGER TO SUCCESS: With seven Champ Car Series starts at Road America, Tagliani has completed 1,328 miles on the 4.05-mile road course. Tagliani has also led 39 laps, has three podium finishes and won his only career CART/Champ Car event there in 2004, piloting a Lola Ford for Paul Gentilozzi.

· DIVERSE RACING VETERAN: Tagliani is a fierce competitor on the track and has shown he can drive anything from IndyCar to NASCAR to V8 Supercar to Tudor United Sports Cars. In the 2014 racing season, Tagliani has already raced in the Indianapolis 500, where he finished 13th, currently runs full time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and has made three starts in the TUSCCS, where he earned the pole at Kansas.

THE Q & A

ALEX TAGLIANI, NO. 22 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD

WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR THE WEEKEND?

“It is an honor to drive for Team Penske, especially the No. 22 Mustang and to be representing a brand such as Discount Tire. I appreciate the confidence Team Penske and Discount Tire has, letting me drive the car for them in two road course races and I am very excited to have the chance to test and race with such a great team and group of guys. Jeremy Bullins is an amazing crew chief so we are looking to have some strong results at Road America.”

TALK ABOUT YOUR PAST SUCCESS AT ROAD AMERICA.

“I am pretty excited to be going back to Road America. It is a place that I like and have great memories from my first win in Champ Car driving for Ford in 2004. I am very excited to have this opportunity with Penske and can’t to get in the car and start driving. I hope to continue the long tradition of winning in the 22 car.”
