THE RACE RECAP

Ryan Blaney and the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang started the Boyd Gaming 300 from the fourth position based on the qualifying session held earlier in the day. The first half of the race, Blaney ran inside of the top-five while battling a very loose Ford Mustang. In the later stages of the race, Blaney got loose on the inside of the No. 20, lightly brushing the right fender against the wall. Crew chief, Greg Erwin called Blaney down pit road for four fresh tires, which set-up a very exciting finish that saw Blaney make his way through the field and battle race leader, Austin Dillon for the win with two laps left.  Coming off of the turn, Blaney got loose and took the checkered flag in second place.  The second place result for Blaney was his first top-five of the 2015 XFINITY Series season.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

“First of all I just want to apologies to Eric Jones. He just kind of sucked me around there. I tried to stay off of him but I just got his left rear. I hate to see that but we had a great car and Greg Erwin made a great call to come and get four tires and tighten me up. I was loose all day and that really brought my car to life. We were coming and I got a really good run off of four and he (Austin Dillon) did what he had to do to stop my run and it just wasn’t enough. I slipped a little coming in to turns 1 and 2 off the top and couldn’t get to his outside but a great showing by this Discount Tire Ford. I am excited to be back in this car and in the XFINITY Series and hopefully the next race will be a little bit more smoother for us.”
