Recap: Brad Keselowski and the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford team started fourth, ran second for most of the day and finished second in Saturday afternoon’s DAV 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. Keselowski qualified fourth and took only two laps following the green flag to advance to second place, where he would run for much of the 200-lap event. The Discount Tire Ford was a little free on corner exit early and then built a little tight through the center as the race wore on. Keselowski, the 2010 NASCAR XFINITY Series Champion, led three times for a combined seven laps on the afternoon. The No. 22 Team Penske pit crew performed flawlessly throughout the race and crew chief Greg Erwin made small adjustments over the course of the race, which kept the team in contention until the very end. Keselowski gave it his best, but just didn’t have quite enough to catch the No. 54 (Kyle Busch) car and had to settle for second place. The No. 22 Discount Tire team, which has already clinched the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Owners’ Championship, earned its 18th top-two finish of the season.
Quote: “We needed lot more of everything, but we had a great effort. We had a great day on pit road. The Discount Tire Ford guys on the pit crew did a great job there. We gained spots, so that was really cool and real fun, but we just needed a lot more speed to run with the 54. Either way, it was a pretty solid day.”
