Recap: The hard work by Acura Team Penske began to bear fruit on the final day of the Roar Before The 24 test extravaganza where teams prepare for the 58th annual Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway later this month. Both of the Acura ARX-05s closed the gap to the speed leaders in the morning practice session, and they were able to maintain it as Ricky Taylor finished second and Juan Pablo Montoya placed third in the qualifying session that determines pit stall and garage assignments for the race. Taylor led the morning session with the fastest practice lap of the weekend at 1:33.617 seconds with Montoya just behind. While they weren’t able to pick up the necessary speed to win the qualifying round, both teams made significant gains on the field and look to be in great shape heading into the premiere race for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
