DJR Team Penske has worked through a number of programs over the two day sydney.com SuperTest. The final full practice session was held this morning and Marcos Ambrose put the Xbox Ford Falcon FG X into a strong P5 when the flag dropped after two hours of track time.
 
The team continued to work at the cars set up after a lot of data was collected on Saturday and hit the ground running this morning. Ambrose was upbeat at the conclusion of the session feeling that the team had found some good direction which was translating into car speed. The chatter up and down pit lane was the condition of tyres as all the teams were using tyres from their tyre bank and degradation was high.
 
Ambrose put the car well inside the Top 10 and then backed it up with his best lap of the weekend to see him just 5/10ths second behind the morning’s quickest car of Mark Winterbottom.
 
The event was closed out with a full field shootout. With all cars running on a brand new set of tyres provided by Dunlop for the test, Ambrose set a lap of 1.31.7 to see him finish in P14 in the Shootout field.
 
The team returns to Queensland to prepare for the Clipsal 500 in three weeks time.

On the overall weekends performance
 
“It has been a great weekend for DJR Team Penske. From the time I got here till now at the end of the test I feel a lot more confident and much clearer with the feel of the car. I think we got more out of this test than a lot of the other teams achieved. The morning session was a big step forward for all of us and for me personally to just get back up in the mix. It is funny really; at Homebush I would have been happy to climb into the midfield and now we are there this weekend you just want to take the next step up."  
 
Looking ahead to the Clipsal 500
 
“I am not sure if our direction will be faster but I feel we are on the improve from what we have learnt this weekend. I will have to rely on my experience and knowledge from the past plus what we are learning not only at Clipsal but at all the tracks we visit."
