Ambrose And DJR Team Penske Make Progress In Race Two

MELBOURNE, VIC - 13 March, 2015 – Two races for the V8 Supercars were held today as the main support for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park. The two races netted very different results for Marcos Ambrose aboard the Wurth Ford Falcon FG X.
The first twelve lap journey saw Ambrose start from P20 in the rolling start format. But his race progress was short lived as he was clipped by Ash Walsh in the AMG E63, spinning the Wurth Falcon and then being hit by Tim Blanchard. A Safety Car was called for a stranded Walsh and Ambrose continued with damage to the front and rear of his car.
Added to his rear of field position was a badly ‘flat’ spotted set of Dunlop slicks. Marcos did well to bring the car home and was classified P23. A stewards hearing cleared Ambrose of any fault in the Lap 1 skirmish.
The hard working DJR Team Penske crew set to work and had the Wurth Falcon FG X looking brand new for Race 2. A rolling start once again played to Ambrose’s strength and he picked off five positions by the end of Lap 1. A Safety Car was deployed and as the race was a time certain format, only nine laps were run of the scheduled twelve.
Ambrose consolidated his 18th spot and will start in that position in Race 3 on Saturday.

“I felt we made some progress in the second race. We finished, kept out of trouble, made some spots and with the very limited amount of laps got ourselves a bit further up the grid for race three. We still need to get the car to handle better than today, but we are heading in a better direction than Thursday.
“The first race was all over for me on Lap 1. There was a lot going on during the first lap and we just got caught up in the accident at Turn 5.”
