Marcos Ambrose Toughs It Out In Race 3 At Albert Park

March 14, 2015

MELBOURNE, VIC - 14 March, 2015 – After a promising run on Saturday at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, Marcos Ambrose was looking to continue his march up the field in the third race today at Albert Park.

Lining up in P18 for the rolling start, the No 17 Wurth DJR Team Penske was on the move at the green flag. However by Turn 3, the cars were tightly bunched and, as has been the pattern of the weekend, a number of cars sustained damage. Cars were backing up and Ambrose had nowhere to go, and received major panel damage to the bonnet, grill and splitter on the car in an incident with Todd Kelly.

Once again, Marcos was on the back foot and dropped back to P20 at the end of Lap 1. He was caught and passed by Caruso on Lap 3 and was in damage control for the balance of the race.

Finally finishing in P22, Ambrose was disappointed with the result and the ensuing work for the DJR Team Penske crew.

The final race will take place before the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday. Marcos will line up in the Wurth Falcon FG X in P21 as a result of the cumulative point score for the MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge.

“The rolling starts are not being kind to me here this weekend. I got away fairly well and was up behind Todd Kelly into Turn 3. We were running side by side with another Nissan on the way to Turn 4 and I reckon everyone backed up a bit and I had nowhere to go.

“The damage really affected the aero on the car and at a place like this you need it all working well. Just a frustrating race and more damage for the boys to fix tonight.”
