Gold Coast, 18 October, 2016: DJR Team Penske will introduce a new partnership at the Gold Coast 600 with national car buying service SellMyCar, taking primary position on Fabian Coulthard’s No. 12 Ford Supercar.

The association between sellmycar.com.au and Manheim Auctions sees an extension of the strong ties in the USA between the Penske Automotive Group and Cox Automotive. The local Cox Automotive Automotive-owned brands are making big inroads into the Australian market and the association with DJR Team Penske is seen as a great profile for the two brands. Cox Automotive are supporters of Team Penske's USA NASCAR program via sponsorship promoting their Autotrader brand.

The sponsorship and activation is a first for SellMyCar in Australia. It is primarily aimed at promoting the consumer profile of SellMyCar with their signage appearing on the bonnet and both sides of the car, while a corporate element to the package will see Manheim signage on the roof.

From a consumer point of view, it was felt that many in the Supercars audience are seen as car experts, or influencers - the sort of people consulted by friends or family before car purchase or disposal decisions are made.

Corporate hospitality will be key to the activation of this partnership with SellMyCar having already run a consumer competition with prizes of trips to the Gold Coast 600. In addition, customer focused promotions including trips to the Gold Coast 600, plus interactive promotions through the SellMyCar website with a number of prizes on offer, have been activated.

According to Justin Hodgson, Director of Marketing for Manheim Australia, the Cox Penske sponsorship here is a one off at this stage. "We are really excited to be working with DJR Team Penske and expect our sponsorship will generate some great exposure for our brands," said Justin Hodgson, Director of Marketing for Manheim Australia.

"While it is a one-off partnership this year, if it proves to be effective, it could certainly lead to an ongoing relationship between our companies.
