Recap Races 3: Fabian Coulthard continued his strong run at the Coates Hire Challenge today at the Formula 1 Grand Prix with another Top 5 result in the Detroit Ford.
Team mate Scott Pye also produced a good result in the Western Star Trucks Ford XR 8 clawing his way up the field to finish in 12th position.
The third race of the weekend was again held in cool conditions with a light shower thrown in at half race distance. Coulthard resumed his battle with Chaz Mostert keeping him at bay to finish in 5th position. Pye dropped as low as 19th on Lap 1, but set about picking his way through the field to cross the line in 12th spot.
Sunday sees the final 12 lap race of the Coates Hire V8 Supercars Challenge.
Fabian Coulthard Quote: "We have made inroads this weekend with the Detroit Ford but as I have said before we need to keep learning. It is good to get another Top 5 result, but more importantly we are trying to improve it every time we are on track.
"The battle with Chaz was a lot of fun. We ran side by side for three corners and gave each other racing room. It was an enjoyable part of the race.
"We will have another good look the data tonight and see if we can't improve again for the final."
Scott Pye Quote: "Yesterday was the cause of our starting position for Race 3 but we really had a great car today. We were able to make some changes that had some degree of risk but starting P17 it was worth it. I got bumped back to P19 on lap 1 so to finish in P12 was pretty good.
"Adam (DeBorre) did a great job on the set up and I think we can get a bit more out of the Western Star Trucks Ford for the final race tomorrow."
