Recap Race 2: Fabian Coulthard has finished the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint 200km final in 8th place today after a tough 84 lap race. Starting from 8th on the grid, Coulthard ran almost the whole race around this position but could not bridge the gap to the lead group.

With two pit stops in play for all cars, plus the intervention of Safety Cars the race provided plenty of action, but Fabian could not retain the outright car speed in the Detroit Ford over the longer race stints. A fastest lap and Top 10 finish was however some consolation.

Starting in 15th, Scott Pye quickly had the Western Star trucks Ford moving up the field.

The crew called him to pit as soon as a Safety Car was released on Lap 4. This quick thinking moved Scott up to 7th once the rest of the field pitted on the following lap. He ran a number of laps behind Coulthard before the second round of pit stops commenced.

Once the field had again settled, Scott was forced back in the pack as the race ran its course and crossed the line in 14th position.

Fabian Coulthard Quote: "It is only our third race meeting as a team so you have to be realistic about the results and keep expectations in check. The competitor in me of course wants the results every time we are on track and I think we did expect a little more this weekend.

"At the end of the day, we are still learning this car and we have some really good speed when the car hangs onto its tyre it is fast. There is speed in it, we just need to get the longevity during the race. We did throw the kitchen sink at the Detroit Ford this weekend, so we will head home and work hard on the car for Phillip Island."
 
Scott Pye Quote:  "A very long and tough race today but I felt that Adam and I really made progress on how we work together. So in that respect we can take from it but in terms of a result we just did not quite have the car speed in the Western Star Ford this weekend.

"The boys made a great early call when the first Safety Car appeared but we were unable to hold that position as the race progressed. I think we are getting a lot of good information on the car which will help improve the overall package."
