October 23, 2016

Track: Surfers Paradise Street Circuit
Race:  Gold Coast 600
Date:  23rd October 2016
Race 2 – 300km – 102 Laps

Race 2 Recap:  The Gold Coast 600 has proven to be one of the toughest rounds of the 2016 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship for DJR Team Penske. The team performed a miraculous rebuild of the No 12 SellMyCar Ford of Fabian Coulthard and Luke Youlden with the car arriving back at the track at 8.00am this morning. Sunday's race followed a similar pattern to yesterdays. After a long run from the start, Youlden handed over to Coulthard on Lap 60. The car moved up a number of spots over the 102 lap race crossing the line in fifteenth position.

Scott Pye and Tony D'Alberto suffered a pit stop issue at the first stop forcing a second stop to fix the air spike that operates the jacking system. Pitting for a third time a few laps later, D'Alberto handed over the Hog's Ford to Pye on Lap 60, but the pair had gone down a lap with the extra stop and finished in 23rd position.

Qualifying:         P 17        Fastest Lap 1:11.22 - FC
Race 2:             P 15

Fabian Coulthard Quote: "It has been a tough weekend. If we had of got that result yesterday today would have been a different story. The rebuild by the guys was a fantastic effort so to be even racing today was a bonus I guess."

"The SellMyCar Ford was still suffering some of the same balance problems as yesterday funnily enough so where we finished today was probably as good we could have expected."

Luke Youlden Quote: "The boys did a great job getting the car to the grid. I can't thank them enough and I was just glad I was able to bring it back straight for Fabian after my double stint."

No. 17 Hogs Ford - Scott Pye / Tony D'Alberto
Qualifying:         P 15        Fastest Lap 1:11.11 - SP
Race 2:             P 23

Scott Pye Quote:  "I guess this is really a weekend where circumstances beyond Tony and my control determined our results. We were forced to stop three times today which hurt our track position. The Hog's Ford was never quite dialled in the way we wanted but we were behind the eight ball in both races."

Tony D'Alberto Quote: "The car speed initially was OK, and I was saving fuel but we had a problem at the first pit stop. The boys reacted quickly, but I moved off when the car hit the ground. It was very unfortunate as I think we would have continued the early progress up the order."
